The acclaimed Netflix series The Crown found the perfect setting in the province of Malaga to recreate the official tours of the British royal family, doubling locations to simulate places as far away as Australia or the French Riviera.
- Malaga Capital: the streets of the historic center, especially the surroundings of the Cathedral and Molina Lario street, were transformed into the Australian city of Perth during the recreation of the Prince and Princess of Wales' tour in 1983. Likewise, the Monte Miramar Palace served as the setting to simulate their visit to Brisbane.
- Marbella and Puerto Banús: the luxury marina served as an idyllic backdrop to set the scene for Lady Di and Dodi Al-Fayed's vacation.
International fantasy in El Torcal de Antequera
The historical and natural heritage of the province's interior has served to recreate fantasy worlds in international series for major streaming platforms.
- Antequera and 'Warrior Nun': the Netflix action and fantasy series chose the impressive karst landscape of El Torcal de Antequera and the Real Colegiata de Santa María Mayor to set a large part of its epic scenes, showing international audiences the majesty of Malaga's natural stone.
Timeless classics: Frank Sinatra in El Chorro
Malaga's relationship with Hollywood cinema goes back a long way. One of the most famous shoots in the history of the province took place in the 1960s in the interior of the region.
- Caminito del Rey: the imposing Gaitanes Gorge and the railway tracks crossing the area were the main stage for the agonizing final sequence of Von Ryan's Express (1965), the classic World War II movie starring Frank Sinatra.
