Travelling to Málaga Summer 2026, Flights: new routes, capped fares and essential tips for risk-free travel

Malaga airport Connections

As the summer season begins to pick up on the Costa del Sol, Málaga's skies become the ultimate bridge connecting thousands of travellers worldwide. Since 29 March and running until the end of October, airline operations are deploying their full potential to facilitate this year’s getaways and holidays.

If you are planning your next trip, we bring you a practical breakdown of the available destinations, the airlines keeping their prices stable, and a crucial security change you must be aware of before stepping foot inside the terminal.

1. Route Map: 151 Direct Destinations at Your Disposal

This summer, options for flying into or out of the Costa del Sol take on a highly attractive global dimension, linking directly with 151 international destinations and long-haul hubs.

  • Transatlantic Leaps & North America: the airport is consolidating key routes for long-distance travellers. Most notable are the direct daily connection to New York operated by United Airlines and the direct link to Montreal via Air Transat—ideal for crossing the pond without the hassle of layovers in Madrid or London.
  • Gateway to the Middle East & Asia: Turkey and its major hub in Istanbul (via Turkish Airlines) are once again strategic for linking the province with Asia. Furthermore, connections to the Persian Gulf are being strengthened towards global tourism and business capitals like Doha, Riyadh, or Abu Dhabi, opening Andalusia's doors to long-haul international travellers.

2. Fares Under the Microscope: The Airlines Keeping Prices Capped

The international climate and rising energy sector costs are causing fluctuations in airline ticket prices worldwide. Both traditional and international operators have already warned of fare increases across Europe to adapt to current market conditions.

However, for those looking to protect their budget on European routes and domestic connections, there are two very safe options in Málaga. Vueling and EasyJet have confirmed they will not raise their ticket prices this summer. Vueling is keeping its 15 seasonal routes stable (such as Paris-Orly, London, or Amsterdam), while EasyJet is capping fares on its 23 connections, including its recent international links to Zurich or Marrakech.

3. Essential for Your Return: The New Digital Biometric Control (EES)

If you are travelling with friends, family, or clients holding non-EU passports (a very common scenario for British travellers), you must take note of an important operational update: the implementation of the Entry/Exit System (EES).

This new mechanism replaces the traditional physical stamping of passports with a digital scan of biometric data. As it is currently in its adaptation phase across Málaga Airport's terminals, the process can slow down significantly depending on the day and time of your flight.
