With its gaze almost blinded by the sun that was filtering through cliffs and valleys, the old sea was rocking its horizon. That place was practically imperturbable, it seemed trapped in space and time...
This hybrid experience combines hiking with a visit to two Andalusian white villages, taking us into the deepest Axarquía through the perfect mix of nature and hidden villages—those that surprise you with their authenticity.
Our first stop will be Canillas de Aceituno, which also serves as the starting point for El Saltillo, known as “the other Caminito del Rey”. A mountain setting that marks the beginning of a different kind of day, where the landscape is the true main character.
This is a route as peculiar as it is visually stunning: every glance offers a unique image among gorges, trails and open views. After crossing the spectacular hanging bridge, we will make a short stop to regain our energy before continuing along the path. Back in the village, anyone who wishes will have the chance to enjoy the local gastronomy and soak up the calm atmosphere of the Axarquía interior.
To finish, we will head to Salares, a place as unknown as it is important in the region’s history. There we will discover a true gem of Mudejar art and stroll through its narrow streets, which will surely surprise us once again. The perfect ending to a day of contrasts: nature, hiking, and villages with soul.
