Travel Factory Andalucía in Diario de las Américas

Some time ago, we were fortunate enough to receive a visit from Grethel Delgado Álvarez, traveller, writer and journalist for El Diario de Las Américas, who accompanied us on our tour of Nerja, Frigiliana and El Acebuchal.

It is here, among the winding roads that make their way through the rugged geography of Sierra Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, and where so many stories began, that ours begins to unfold...

But, why?

On the one hand, we are talking about El Diario Las Américas, founded on 4 July 1953, one of the first Spanish-language newspapers in the United States and the first in South Florida. This newspaper was created by brothers Horacio and Francisco Aguirre Baca, who promoted this project to give a voice to Spanish-speaking readers in the United States and bring them the latest news.

Originally, it emerged as an evening daily newspaper, evolving into a more modern format, with its presence today being mainly online (with an intermediate phase as a weekly publication, rather than a daily one).

On the other hand, we were fortunate to have our dear Grethel Delgado Álvarez, journalist, writer and photographer, accompany us on one of our tours.

He studied at Florida International University School and was a resident artist at the Antonio Gala Foundation for young creators, excelling in the field of creative writing. For more than eight years, he has been a key member of the El Diario Las Américas team.

This article came about thanks to Grethel, as we were fortunate enough to have her as part of our experience in Nerja, Frigiliana and El Acebuchal, and from there, a direct flight took Travel Factory Andalucía and our experiences to an article in the Diario de Las Américas newspaper.
